Pancakes
In our English Book Voices 3 we are currently learning about Canada, blogs and maple syrup. The perfect combination for a morning in the kitchen, where we were able to put these topics to practical use and make pancakes for breakfast for both our and Mrs. Roffler's class who had to go to their Geometry lesson and couldn't help cooking.
If you want to try the recipe at home:
1. Ingredients (for 4 people)
- 1.5 cups (about 375ml) flour
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking
powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1.75 cups (about 475ml) buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp (about 30ml) butter, melted
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tbsp oil (for the skillet)
- a variety of fruit
- maple sirup
2. Preparations
- Add flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt into a large bowl and mix well.
- In a second bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, melted butter and vanilla.
- Pour over dry ingredients and mix until combined but still slightly lumpy.
- Lightly brush large nonstick skillet with oil and heat over medium high.
- Pour in batter, spread slightly to form pancakes.
- Cook until bubble appear on top after about 3 minutes.
- Flip and cook until bottom is golden brown for about another minute.
- Enjoy your Canadian breakfast;-)
